POSITION SUMMARY
The Associate General Counsel handles day-to-day legal work for the Thrive Companies portfolio and provides legal support for all business lines. Types of matters include real estate acquisitions and financings, employment, landlord/tenant, construction, litigation, commercial leasing, corporate and insurance. Background in all these areas is not required, but candidate must demonstrate ability to be flexible, learn new areas, supervise outside counsel and make sound decisions independently. Candidate will report to the Chief Legal Officer and work closely with all business lines on issues as they arise.
REPORTS TO: Chief Legal Officer
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS
- Education and Licensure: Juris Doctor (J.D.) degree from an accredited law school and an active license to practice law in the State of Ohio.
- Experience: A minimum of 5 years of relevant legal experience, gained either in private law firm practice and/or as in-house counsel.
- Track Record: Strong academic and professional work history, with a demonstrated ability to achieve positive and impactful results for internal and external clients.

- Project Management: Proven ability to manage multiple projects and deadlines simultaneously and independently.

RESPONSIBILITIES AND DUTIES
Key Responsibilities include, but are not limited to, the following:
- General Legal Counsel: Handle day-to-day legal work for the Thrive Companies portfolio and provide consistent legal support across all business lines.
- Transactional & Advisory Support: Provide legal counsel and support on a variety of matters, including:
- Real estate acquisitions and financings.
- Commercial leasing and landlord/tenant issues.
- Employment matters.
- Construction-related legal issues.
- Corporate and insurance matters.
- Litigation Management: Manage and oversee litigation matters as they arise.
- Outside Counsel Oversight: Supervise, direct, and manage the work of outside counsel to ensure cost-effective and successful outcomes.
- Adaptability & Learning: Demonstrate flexibility and a willingness to learn and take on new tasks or legal matters that may be unfamiliar.
- Independent Judgment: Exercise sound and independent judgment in all decision-making.
- Reporting: Report directly to the Chief Legal Officer and work in close partnership with all internal business units on emerging legal issues.
