Position Summary
At Mitzel Law Group, paralegals are an important part of the professional team and have the opportunity to perform substantive, client-facing work alongside experienced attorneys. This position offers exposure to estate planning, estate and trust administration, probate, tax, real estate, and business matters.

This position is well suited for someone who enjoys complex, detail-oriented work and can successfully prioritize and manage multiple matters, deadlines, and requests from clients and attorneys. The paralegal will understand the demands and professional standards of a sophisticated law practice and be comfortable taking ownership of assignments, communicating directly with clients and colleagues, and moving matters forward with appropriate attorney supervision.

The successful candidate will be highly organized, responsive, and able to manage competing priorities without losing sight of deadlines. Our paralegals interact with attorneys, clients, courts, beneficiaries, fiduciaries, and financial professionals, so the ability to communicate clearly, tactfully, and confidently is essential.

Primary Responsibilities
The paralegal will assist attorneys with a broad range of estate planning, trust and estate administration, and probate matters. Depending on experience and aptitude, responsibilities may include:

  • Drafting and revising estate-planning documents, correspondence, memoranda, forms, and related legal documents and proofing own work and that of others.
  • Using firm-approved artificial-intelligence tools to support drafting, summarizing, and document review, then verifying all AI-assisted work before it is relied on and protecting client confidentiality.
  • Assisting with trusts, wills, powers of attorney, and other estate-planning instruments.
  • Gathering, reviewing, organizing, and summarizing detailed client financial and asset information.
  • Working with information concerning trust funding and administration, real estate, bank and brokerage accounts, retirement accounts, life insurance, business interests, and other assets.
  • Assisting attorneys and clients throughout trust and estate administration and probate proceedings while tracking tasks from commencement to conclusion.
  • Preparing and filing probate court documents according to court requirements and deadlines.
  • Preparing fiduciary and estate accountings and organizing supporting financial information.
  • Assisting with tax-related documents and information used in estate, gift, fiduciary, and individual tax matters.
  • Preparing deeds and other real-estate-related documents where appropriate.
  • Communicating professionally and responsively with clients, attorneys, courts, financial institutions, accountants, financial advisors, beneficiaries, trustees, personal representatives, and other professionals.
  • Serving as a point of contact for clients to coordinate appointments, document-signings, and meetings.
  • Protecting confidentiality of firm and client information in accordance with firm guidelines, rules of professional conduct, and applicable local, state, and federal laws.

Key Requirements

  • The ideal candidate will have:
  • Paralegal degree, certificate, or equivalent combination of education and substantial relevant legal experience.
  • Prior paralegal experience in estate planning, trust administration, estate administration, and/or probate.
