Description
Reporting to the CEO and President of Revs Institute and Companies, the Vice President of Finance (VPF) is a key member of the executive leadership team (C-Suite), responsible for the strategic and operational oversight of all financial services across Revs Institute and its affiliated entities, including C H Motorcars, RevsEd, The Motorcar Hub (a public non-profit), and Horseshoe Drive LLLP (a private real estate entity). This role requires a sophisticated understanding of the complex interplay between multiple financial frameworks—public nonprofit GAAP, private foundation regulations, for-profit business accounting, and private real estate structures.
The VPF is entrusted with building and maintaining a unified financial strategy while ensuring compliance, transparency, and sustainability across all operations. This individual will bring seasoned executive judgment and technical expertise to drive financial stewardship, manage major capital initiatives, and provide organizational leadership in legal affairs, IT, and facility planning. The VPF also supports the CEO in the preparation for and direct reporting to the Revs Institute Board of Trustees, including the coordination and delivery of key financial materials and presentations for four scheduled board meetings annually.
Key Responsibilities
Financial Oversight
- Provide strategic leadership and direct oversight of all financial operations including
- General Ledger, Accounts Payable, Accounts Receivable, Payroll and Benefits
- Capital Spending and Reporting
- Develop and implement financial policies, controls, and procedures in compliance with GAAP standards relevant to each entity.
- Lead annual budget development and multi-year financial forecasting for all entities.
- Manage relationships with external auditors, tax advisors, and financial institutions.
- Oversee the proper required federal and state filings, including with the IRS the annual tax returns, 990 reports, etc.
- Ensure compliance with IRS and FASB regulations for
- Oversee entity-level financial integration, reporting, and intercompany transactions in a manner consistent with regulatory expectations and operational objectives.
Board Support and Trustee Reporting
- Partner with the CEO in the development and delivery of financial reports, forecasts, and strategic updates for the Revs Institute Board of Trustees.
- Prepare materials and participate in quarterly Board meetings; respond to trustee inquiries and support governance needs as required.
- Ensure alignment of board-level financial reporting with institutional priorities and audit requirements.
Legal Affairs and Risk Management
- Serve as the primary liaison to external legal counsel.
- Coordinate all legal affairs including contracts, regulatory filings, risk mitigation, and litigation management.
- Ensure entity compliance with local, state, and federal laws and regulations.
Capital Projects Leadership
- Provide executive oversight to the Project Director for all facilities-related initiatives, including: Infrastructure maintenance and upgrades 
 The planned $100M+ campus expansion project, Oversee financial planning, contracting, budgeting, and reporting for all capital projects.
- Technology and Archive Operations, Directly supervise the Director of IT, ensuring alignment of enterprise technology with organizational goals.
- Provide leadership to the Director of Operations of the Archives and Research Center, with a focus on operational excellence and preservation standards.
Requirements
- Minimum of 15 years of progressively responsible financial leadership, with at least 5 years at the C-suite or senior executive level.
- Demonstrated success managing finances in a multi-entity, mixed-structure environment (nonprofit, foundation, for-profit, real estate). 
 CPA or MBA required; advanced certifications or nonprofit accounting experience highly desirable.
- Strong working knowledge of U.S. GAAP, FASB regulations, and IRS rules governing nonprofit and foundation accounting.
- Experience managing major capital projects, including financial planning and construction oversight.
- Direct experience working with or overseeing legal counsel and managing legal strategy.
- Familiarity with enterprise IT systems and digital infrastructure development.
