Serves as administrative liaison between our office and outside patent law firms. Responsible for reviewing all patent prosecution correspondence from US and foreign patent offices to ensure that the information being reported to us by the patent office is accurate and corresponds to our records (and vice versa) for each application, as well as docketing all patent prosecution details and deadlines in various IP management databases. This position also will be responsible for reporting of invention disclosures to the federal government using iEdison or via direct contact with agencies, including preparing and filing documents for all government-supported invention disclosures and all follow on reporting obligations as required under the Bayh-Dole Act. Duties include reviewing invention disclosures for reference to federal and non-federal support, follow up with innovators, sending documents and reports to governmental agencies (mainly NIH) to maintain institutional compliance with Bayh-Dole requirements, as well as performing similar duties for non-federal funding and updating internal patent database to document completion of compliance requirements.


Bachelor's degree with one to two years of experience required. Paralegal Certificate with 1-3 years of case management or paralegal experience preferred. 1 year professional intellectual property experience. Proficiency with electronic case and information databases like KSS as well as Microsoft Office/Outlook software. Electronic document management experience. Experience in data entry using KSS TechTracS or comparable relational database. Strong communication and organization skills. Must show attention to detail and ability to work in a team environment. The ideal candidate for this position would be a patent paralegal with tech transfer experience. Equivalent combination of education and experience may be substituted per university guidelines.
