Orrick currently has an opening for a Litigation Paralegal with 2-3 years of experience to join our Intellectual Property Group. This position could be based in any of our U.S. offices (Austin; Boston; Houston; Los Angeles; New York; Menlo Park; Orange County, Portland, Sacramento; San Francisco; Santa Monica, Seattle, Washington DC or Wheeling, WV), with a strong preference on the West Coast.

As a Paralegal, you will support the delivery of quality legal services to clients. Your responsibilities will include completing technical and clerical tasks that require accuracy, attention to detail, strong organizational skills, strong written and oral interpersonal skills, and computer proficiency.

You will perform a wide array of tasks, including but not limited to:

  • Organizing and compiling relevant data and materials.
  • Reviewing, analyzing and summarizing documents.
  • Drafting memos, correspondence, and legal documents.
  • Cite-checking and fact checking legal documents.
  • Assisting with court filings and e-filings.
  • Communicating effectively with attorneys and clients regarding factual and organizational issues.
  • You will provide assistance to others in all aspects of IP litigation, focusing primarily on the organization and indexing of case materials.


  • Bachelor’s Degree required with a strong academic background.
  • At least 2 years’ IP Litigation experience in a law firm or corporate legal department.
  • Have flexibility and the ability to prioritize and organize tasks in a dynamic working environment.
  • Be attentive to details, have flexibility with your work schedule and have excellent verbal and written interpersonal skills.
  • Have the capability to become familiar with the procedures, terminology and documents relating to litigation and investigations
  • Ability to work in a forward-thinking working environment within a team environment.
  • Advanced computer skills including proficiency in Microsoft Office.
  • Strong time-management skills are required.

California Requirements: In California, Practice Assistants are not considered by the firm to be working as “Paralegals” as defined by the California Business and Professions Code, Section 6450 et seq. Experience as a Practice Assistant, however, may serve to qualify an employee to be considered for promotion to a paralegal position in accordance with the firm’s advancement and promotion policies and procedures.
