Summary of Major Responsibilities

The Litigation Paralegal performs a variety of legal support duties relating to the company's litigation and risk management efforts. This position regularly interfaces with leadership team members, other employees, and third parties with whom the company interacts to gather and exchange information.

The preferred location for this role is Madison, WI. However, candidates near our San Diego, CA location will also be considered.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Handle details of a highly confidential, critical, and time sensitive nature; including patient information.
  • Work with litigation counsel to develop and revise legal strategy as to pending disputes.
  • Research laws and regulations related to relevant legal issues.
  • Serve as a primary internal point of contact for litigation matters for document holds, discovery, and factual information supporting litigation efforts and strategy.
  • Prepare and monitor reports to management of pending litigation activity.
  • Prepare and review internal and external communications related to pending legal issues.
  • Coordinate with finance, legal and investor relations teams with respect to disclosure of pending legal issues in company securities filings.
  • Support the administration of the company's document retention policy, including by training employees on the policy and participating in compliance audits.
  • Train additional support staff within the legal team.
  • Assist with other corporate and transactional matters on an as-needed basis.

  • Ability to work on a mobile device, tablet, or in front of a computer screen and/or perform typing for approximately 90% of a typical working day.
  • Ability and means to travel between Madison locations.


Qualifications

Minimum Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree and a Paralegal Certificate from an ABA approved program; or Bachelor's degree and 3 years of related paralegal experience as outlined in the essential duties in lieu a Paralegal Certificate from an ABA approved program.
  • 5+ years of experience as a paralegal.
  • Authorization to work in the United States without sponsorship.
  • Demonstrated ability to perform the Essential Duties of the position with or without accommodation.

Preferred Qualifications
  • Paralegal's Certificate from ABA approved program.
  • Previous paralegal experience in litigation.
  • Previous experience in the healthcare or life sciences industry.
