Position Overview
We are seeking an Associate Attorney with 2–5 years of experience in estate planning, probate, and/or trust administration to join our growing practice. This role is ideal for an attorney who enjoys client interaction, values mentorship and collaboration, and wants to build longterm expertise in a thoughtful, wellrun estate planning firm. The position is primarily focused on estate planning, with a smaller portion of responsibilities supporting probate and trust administration matters. You will be expected to handle matters with increasing autonomy—owning client communication, drafting, and followthrough—while receiving attorney support for strategy, complex issues, and final review.
Key Responsibilities
Client Service and Representation
Guide clients through estate planning, probate, and trust administration matters with care and empathy
Conduct client meetings with clarity and reassurance
Build trusted client relationships
Estate Planning
Draft and review wills, trusts, powers of attorney, and related documents
Identify family dynamics, asset complexity, and planning goals
Probate & Trust Administration
Manage probate filings and related documents
Advise fiduciaries and communicate with courts
Proactive Problem-Solving
Anticipate issues and propose solutions
Contribute to improving firm processes
Communication & Collaboration
Communicate clearly with clients and staff
Work collaboratively with assistants and paralegals
Professional Growth
Stay current on Ohio law and best practices
Pursue continued learning and improvement
What Success Looks Like (First 90 Days)
Independently manage core estate planning matters from intake through draft preparation, with attorney review as needed
Draft common estate planning document sets (including wills, trusts, powers of attorney, and healthcare directives) with minimal revisions
Own defined probate and/or trust administration tasks (e.g., preparing filings, inventories, and distribution documentation) with supervision
Maintain clear, timely client communication and collaborate effectively with assistant/paralegal.
Demonstrate reliable deadline tracking and proactive issue-spotting
Compensation & Benefits
Base Salary
$80,000 – $95,000, commensurate with experience

Requirements
Qualifications
Required
J.D. from an accredited law school
Active Ohio law license in good standing (or ability to obtain licensure promptly)
2–5 years of relevant experience in estate planning, probate, and/or trust administration
Strong drafting, communication, and client-service skills
Preferred
Comfort managing matters with appropriate supervision and escalating issues as needed
Familiarity with Clio, Lawmatics and/or WealthCounsel
