Description
Cottrell Fletcher & Cottrell is seeking a full-time paralegal to join their distinguished family law practice in Alexandria, Virginia. This is an opportunity to work with seasoned and respected family law attorneys in the Northern Virginia area. The position serves as administrative and legal support to the firm’s practice. This position is responsible for communicating with clients, preparing and filing legal documents for court, organizing client documents and files, and analyzing discovery documents. Preference will be given to candidates who have experience and familiarity with the filing procedures and practices of Northern Virginia Courts in Arlington, Alexandria, Fairfax County and Loudoun Couty.

Primary Responsibilities:
- Conducting client intakes and appointment scheduling.
- Assisting with preparing and filing legal documents (pleadings, discovery requests and responses, agreements, subpoenas, etc.)
- Conducting basic legal research.
- Assisting with trial, hearing, mediation, and deposition preparation.
- Organizing and analyzing documents from clients.
- Managing upcoming deadlines, databases, and files.
- Other various responsibilities and duties, as assigned.
Salary and Compensation:
- Salary requirements for applicants who meet all qualifications and skills described will range from $75,000-$85,000 per annum and variable benefits depending on experience and current competencies.
Requirements
Qualifications & Skills:
- Prior family law paralegal experience of 2 – 3 years is required.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Must be detail-oriented and organized with good time management skills.
- Comfortable with using MS Office applications (Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint)
- Willingness to learn and multitask in a fast-paced environment.
- Must be able to pass a background check, no criminal record, and references required.
- Preference will be given to candidates that have excellent references and experience in the Northern Virginia Court system, and demonstrates familiarity with filing requirements, docketing, and associated family law litigation processes.
