Arnold & Porter is seeking a Practice Management Coordinator to join the Innovation and Practice Management Team in New York. This position provides financial, analytical, operational, and project-management support to the Director of Practice Management, the Chief Practice Innovation Officer, and other team members.
The Practice Management Coordinator will help advance business planning, financial management, practice operations, and innovation initiatives across the firm. The ideal candidate is highly organized, analytically minded, collaborative, and comfortable managing multiple priorities in a fast-paced professional-services environment.
This role is located in our New York office and follows a hybrid work schedule.
Key Responsibilities
Support the Innovation and Practice Management Team in business planning, analysis, implementation, reporting, meeting coordination, and internal communications.
Coordinate and centralize internal team communications, including preparing substantive meeting agendas, materials, minutes, and follow-up action items.
Support practice management presentations, policies, projects, and department-specific events.
Maintain the team’s shared document workspace, including meeting materials, task lists, business plan activity reports, department budgets, and expense records.
Prepare, update, and analyze financial, statistical, staffing, and other ad hoc reports.
Assist with monthly department presentations, annual budget preparation, quarterly variance reporting, and expense and revenue forecasting.
Create and maintain financial models, reporting tools, and other resources that enhance reporting accuracy and operational efficiency.
Support practice innovation initiatives within the department and across the Firm.
Track ethical walls and conflicts for staffing purposes.
Identify cross-staffing opportunities across offices and departments; coordinate staffing support and work with the Paralegal Manager to address workload needs.
Provide support for Requests for Proposals, fee proposals, matter budgets, pricing initiatives, and League Table data collection.
Assist with pricing analysis, including identifying and evaluating alternative fee arrangements, premium-rate opportunities, and specialized pricing approaches.
Review and analyze department performance data; identify issues requiring attention and prepare reports for Practice Leadership, Practice Managers, and department leadership.
Compile billing, unbilled, accounts receivable, and collection forecast reports in support of individual business plans.
Update and maintain department training, orientation, personnel, and intranet materials.
Serve as a department contact for unique technology requests and help develop user-friendly platforms and tools that improve functionality and intranet support.
Participate in data integrity efforts and manage special projects as assigned.
Attend department-specific seminars and other firm programs, as appropriate.
Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree required, preferably in Business, Economics, Finance, Accounting, or a related field.
At least two years of experience in a law firm, professional-services, or corporate environment; experience in practice management, financial services, or accounting is preferred.
Strong financial, analytical, organizational, and project-management skills.
Ability to work with mathematical and statistical concepts, including percentages, ratios, proportions, and probability.
Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite and Windows-based applications; familiarity with AI tools is preferred.
Demonstrated ability to create accurate, well-organized reports, models, and other high-quality deliverables.
Strong written and verbal communication skills.
Ability to build trusted relationships with attorneys and administrative professionals across offices and departments.
Excellent judgment, discretion, and ability to handle confidential information.
Strong problem-solving skills and exceptional attention to detail.
Ability to work independently and collaboratively, manage competing priorities, and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
Commitment to exceptional internal and external client service.
Flexibility to work additional hours as needed.
The anticipated base salary for this position is $60,800 to $75,000. The actual base salary offered will depend on a variety of factors, including without limitation, the qualifications of the individual applicant for the position, years of relevant experience, level of education attained, certifications or other professional licenses held, and if applicable, the location in which the applicant lives and/or from which they will be performing the job.

As a nonexempt position, this position is eligible for overtime.
The firm may provide a discretionary bonus annually.
